GREENER GRASS AWAITS Launches

Hello! GREENER GRASS AWAITS has finally launched. Here's a link to the itchio page:

HOW TO PLAY:

Sit in a dark room. Put on headphones, and keep the game at full volume. Reduce distractions. Play in one sitting if possible.

Alright! Now I'll write some thoughts below.

 1. I have worked on this way too long.

This was intended to be a 2 month project. It was not a two month project. The time it took to squish all of the bugs and add polish is comical, and I feel that there's even more fiddling i could do.

2. I am so grateful for everyone who helped me.

Playtesting is soooo vital to game development for real. If this game wasn't playtested it would've been in a bad state for sure. Again, thanks to Peyton, Takaiju, Karl, DilbertHVA, Bagelcat, Gioia, Jaspner, Waggamuffin, Depressedbabyman, Kiotree, beckett_mikel, and SpeedMeatBoiler.

3. I think this game might be pretty limited in appeal?

This is a very odd game. I feel like the difficulty will be pretty off putting for some, since it seems a lot of the shorter horror games on itch are more limited in gameplay (as far as i know). And it's pretty cartoony.

4. I am glad that people are liking the game and finding it spooky.

This is the end of the second day that this had been out, and so far reactions seem positive! I'm glad the game is able to resonate and actually scare people. I've played it so much at this point for testing that I worried that it wasn't going to be scary

5. I realllllly hope this game does well.

To me, "well" doesn't only include the downloads/purchases- What I'm hoping for is some opportunities. I love making games and art and would love to continue to be able to work on cool projects.

6. Into the next thing.

I'm not sure what I should do next. I want to finish my album, but I want to make a music video if I do tho which is a month minimum (unless i get crafty). I want to make more shorts for social media. I want to make a game with wizards. Unfortunately the reality is I need to get a job, work on my animation portfolio, etc. It's a crossroads I guess. I'd love to keep making big projects but realistically I'm not sure how much time/etc I will have to do it.

7. This is a fantastic addition to the Yatoimtop Entertainment Sphere.

I am so proud of this game. I think it's a great departure from my other art. Definitely mine, but also a different flavor. Close your eyes and read this next part, imagining all of the sensations:

The wind blows gently across a grass. The temperature is somewhere between warm and cool. You follow a curving sidewalk upward, towards the large concrete sphere that sits on the highest point of the hill. Looking afar, there's cities tucked in the hills that run into the shore. Above the sky is clear, and draped in a deep blue. You take a deep breath as you reach a small plateau around the small summit.

The sphere sits in front of you, small trees dappled around the hill. You follow the concrete path toward the entrance that rings around the orb, passing benches and short lamps meant to illuminate the sidewalk at night. You can imagine the sphere at night, soaked in warm orange lights, the surround trees lit up from below. Snapping back to the present, you walk up and into the sphere.

Inside is a cozy yet sparse room where a computer monitor, headphones, and the other computer necessities sit on a desk in the center of the space. Around the room is a larger screen, speakers, chairs,  and a large window at the top of the spherical room. You take a seat at the padded bench in front of the computer desk and put on the headphones. You click through a game folder and find one icon out of many. It's a golf ball with an eye on it. You click play. The room automatically darkens. The game begins.

GREENER GRASS AWAITS.
